The card room where I have been doing the majority of my playing lately has doesn't have the typical sb and bb. In their 3/6 and 4/8 games the button posts a $4 live blind. $3 to the house, $1 to the jackpot. I find that I am liking this more and more each time I go. The obvious advantage is that you're in the best possible position when you're in the blind. In the good passive games you get to play alot of free hands with position.
My question is how much more loose can you get from the blind when you have position? Obviously atc for no raise, but I've found myself playing much more loose to a raise and even to a reraise. At what point do you stop playing marginal to good hands, say group 3-5 hands, One more bet? two more bets? Being on the button makes it very tempting to get in the big pots preflop. |

Probably 1 - 2 more bets. It really depends on how marginal the hands are. If you're talking low card, off-suit, then I still would fold generally as standard unless free to continue. If you're talking low cards on-suit, high card-low card, then I would be more tempted to play these hands a little more and hit in one or two more hands than I usually would.
Nice idea to play towards the jackpot though, wish more places would do it. |
