I like to make all my raises a standard size in no-limit. If the blinds are $1, my raise will be to $4. I want to be consistent so people can't read the strength of my hand based on my raise. However, when raising from either the button or the blinds with a lot of limpers, I find that this raise sometimes is not big enough to play people off. I have considered using the pot size as the basis for my standard raise instead because of this problem. For example, with four limpers from the Button I would raise to $5.5.
What do you use for a "standard size" raise? Is it based on the blinds or on the pot? Or do you vary your raises? |

Vary them, in fact vary them significantly to reduce the likelihood of people reading you consistantly.
I tend to raise stupidly high for the situation, say $10 before the flop, which should be enough to shake the limpers off unless they are concealing a nice starting hand. |
