who wins the pot? |

The way to look at that hand is that you both have 2 pair, so the highest card after the 2 pair is the kicker. Since the A on the board is the highest, it's a split pot.
Let's look at this example:
You have QJ, other player has QT.
The board is: K K Q 9 7
You would win because you have 2 pair with a J kicker. |

I thought his friend won it as he had the 6 kicker? I may well be wrong but I thought it went down the hands, to the kicker?
If you could explain to me I'd be grateful, I just didn't think it worked that way since the reward has always been to play higher cards for that reason? |

| I'm pretty sure the friend wins on the back of his 6 kicker. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but that's how I've been playing it for as long as I can remember. |
