so i have came to the conclusion that aces are the best starting hand only. i was wondering if you guys ever fold aces throughout a hand. i usually get my aces all in preflop or get them all in on the flop. seeing as how they are the worst hand on the river, i put the money in the pot when im in a big lead.
so i mean if you have AA and you raise flop big and get a caller, and the flop is KKQ, and you raise, he calls, turn is a Q you raise, he reraises min, do you put him on a queen, do you have the courage to fold aces.

so my question really is, how many times in your life do you think you have folded aces, and do you think it is extremely hard to let them go?

While there aren't monsters under every bed, there are a few out there.

This thing is soooooooo situational.

IMO, you're correct to get your money in pF but I generally won't push AA on a scary board. Especially if I'm out of position.

In your hypothetical example, you could easily be drawing dead or to two outs at best.

You could be up against KK, QQ, KQs or o, AKs or o & AQs and be dominated.

Generally, in limit games, if I'm in a multiway pot and there's action in front of me on a scary board, I'll muck A's in a heart beat when I don't have a solid re-draw.

With aces i play them very agressively. I raise preflop hoping to get re raised so i can get my money in. i very rarely limp with them only time is if theres a maniac or someone raising every pot. if it does get to a flop, i get my money in 90% of the time. if someone got lucky enough to hit a small set or 2 pair, theyre gonna win a big pot. i dont wanna let them push and put me in a tough decision. The flops that i slow down extremely on are 3 to a flush, unless say the flop is XXX spades and i have the A of spades. ill play it fast there because i know where the nuts are. the other type of flop is where it pairs. I dont care if its KKQ or 422 i play it slower even on the 2s because if someone called my raise with A2soooted or K2 sooooted they just hit their set. with the flop you described, thats an easy fold if you know a min raise from this guy is strength. i would probably lay it down because its not likely he has an ace and is pushing with ace high on that kind of board, so your most likely beaten.

Many times. Haven't kept track, but at least:

9 times preflop
291 times post flop and beyond...

There was a post about ppA preflop in 1st hand tourney recently...

I can lay down ppA, when the situation, is undesirable, or, personally not to my liking.

ppA, is preflop, BEST 2 cards, but, not best hand. Easy to get enamored with, and easy, to lose with. Just 2 cards, need 5 to make a hand.

Why would I ever fold ppA, preflop? Situation was not desirable. 400+ ppl MTT, 1st hand, LP. 6-7 allins before me. I can call allin, or play rest of tourney... Would luv to call, but...

ppA, flop 3 suited, not mine...

ppA, flop [789], not my suits...

ppA, is powerful hole cards, not always best hand. Like any pp, lay em down, dependent upon situation...
