How do you guys play (or I guess I should say recommend playing) a strong two pair with a suited flop when you don't hold the suit. Say you hold Ace Spade Jack Spade on a Ace Clubs Jack Clubs Seven Clubs flop. Assume you bumped pre-flop like a good boy/girl and narrowed the field some.
I ask because I usually bet this hand (or any two pair with a draw with a draw on the board) pretty hard, over the pot on a small pot, or all in on a large pot and I seem to be getting called way too often on the big bet. I can understand the made flush calling/raising obviously and you probably call here with a set, but I'm seeing a lot of people call with even the Queen Clubs or Ten Clubs on the straight and flush draws, and it's not a horrible call, just something I'd probably lay down. Should I keep on trucking and making the odds poor for someone on the draw or do I need to let this go and wait for better situations? |

I would get out of it unless I have a significant chip advantage over most if not all the players. Why? You just know someone is holding a pair of clubs in their mitts waiting for somebody to commit to the pot.
If there are a lot of checks that round though, I would stay in, or if the raises were small. However, the merest sniff of overconfidence from an opponent in that situation and I'm out of it. |
